What Is Reiki And How Can It Help Me?


Reiki is an ancient form of energy healing originating in Japan and meaning "Universal life force" said to stimulate the body's natural healing processes.

During a Reiki session the Reiki Practitioner works through opening and clearing the chakras in the body.  Chakra comes from the Sanskrit word meaning 'wheel' referring to energy points held in the body.  The seven main chakras are positioned on the body from the base of the spine through to the crown chakra at the top of your head.  The energy circles are believed to be linked to our organs, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being.  Essentially we need to keep our chakras aligned, open and in balance to allow energy to flow.  

Reiki involves the practitioner placing their hands in a series of hand positions on, or just above the body to guide the energy.  You are invited to relax on a treatment table fully clothed while Reiki energy is channeled through the practitioners hands, allowing the energy to go where it is needed most. 

Reiki can bring a range of benefits including relaxation, peace, focus, balance of emotions, an aid to physical pain, soothe discomfort, activate your innate self-healing, and to realign your overall wellbeing. 

Clients have reported feeling relaxed, hot/cold or tingly sensations and noticed an improvement in reduced pain, anxiety, stress and fatigue.

Reiki works beautifully alongside other healing modalities and is very gentle.  As with any healing, it is with the intention to be used to aid in your physical and emotional well-being.  Not to supersede advice from medical professionals.
